Recapture Metals Limited

Gallium (Ga)

Recapture Metals produces high purity gallium metal for metallurgical, chemical electronic, and compound semiconductor applications in the following grades:

  • 4N (99.99%) gallium for metallurgical, chemical and solar applications
  • 6N (99.9999%) and 7N (99.99999%) gallium for electronic and compound semiconductor applications
  • MBE grade (99.999999%) for molecular beam epitaxy applications

In addition to high purity gallium, Recapture Metals manufactures gallium nitrate that is produced from 4N gallium.  Primary gallium production takes place at our Stade, Germany facility.  Secondary gallium production takes place at both of our Blanding, Utah and Peterborough, Canada operations.

Gallium ProductsGallium is a widely distributed element associated with many other minerals. Since it is not found in concentrated deposits, it is rarely mined directly. Gallium is primarily obtained as a by-product in the recovery of other metals such as zinc and aluminum. Its chemical behavior is similar to aluminum. In general there is a thin oxide coating on the surface. It is stable against water, but can react vigorously with halogens (even at low temperatures) and other strong oxidants and bases. With its very low melting point and high boiling point, gallium has the widest liquid range of any element. It also has a strong tendency to supercool below its freezing point.
